Our intensive 5 day weekly schedule provides students with a well rounded understanding of the English language and Western culture. As the English levels of our students become more complex, so do the materials taught in the classroom. We have also developed a system that will encourage students to take English upon themselves. By building the confidence of our students, we develop a self-motivated performance in the classroom.
At Education 101, we divide our week into two sections. Monday, Wednesday, and Friday are focused on perfecting grammar, writing, phonics, spelling, reading, and supplemental cultural materials. Tuesday and Thursday are used to increase the knowledge of other subjects taught in English. We guide students through subjects like math and science in order to give them a necessary base vocabulary in all aspects of the English language. To deepen the cultural maturity of our students, our curriculum includes up-to-date texts filled with interesting information and facts about the world.
Below is a brief summary of what we offer students of different age levels.
We focus the early ages on the three most basic skills in the English language, reading, conversation, and handwriting. It is of utmost importance for the students to have a solid base all three of these areas. We build a strong base for the future Education 101 students with a curriculum designed to encourage fun and activity in the classroom.
In this level, we begin our core curriculum. The students begin learning grammar in a structured environment. We provide the students with the basic skills to navigate the grammatical universe of the English language. We also take time to read about interesting topics in the Western world. In this level we also begin our Canadian curriculum, teaching subjects from Canadian schools in order to build a fuller understanding of the language.
At 101, we set our goals high. We believe that writing should start at a young age. Therefore, get a jumpstart on the writing skills of our students. In this level, we begin to teach the students how to express their thoughts on paper. Through detailed instruction and guidance, we develop their written communication abilities, allowing students to become comfortable with the written language.
Writing skills are incredibly important in the modern world. In order for students to catch up to the abilities of native western children, we believe that they must have a lot of practice in this arena. This level continues to focus on the structured guidance system to increase the familiarity that our students have with writing, and to allow them to feel more comfortable with it.
At this level, we begin to encourage students to take on English in their own style by being more interactive in the classroom. We want students to take English and make it their own learning experience, therefore we have incorporated fun reading material that promotes students to enjoy learning and take the experience home with them.
By this level at Education 101, our students have become very confident in their English abilities. They are now reading fun material on their own and have a basic grasp of writing. This level introduces a new level of interesting material into the classroom with the goal of having students further develop their interests to learn about the world and many cultural differences and converse about them.
Our entire system is designed to have students become more familiar and confident with the English language, therein giving them the strength to be independent in their studies and self-motivated in their progression. At this level, we encourage the students take the class into their own hands. Research has shown that when classroom activities focus on interaction rather than the traditional 'I speak, you listen' format, students show a higher rate of comprehension. Our incremental system is designed to have students run the classroom by this level with only guidance from the instructor. This structure gives the students much more in the classroom, taking their education to a whole new level.
